The Norwegian main bank DnB NOR is to acquire 100% of its Baltic Subsidiary DnB NORD, the Norwegian bank says in a short statement.

Since 2005, DnB NOR Bank ASA (DnB NOR) and Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (NORD/LB) have owned 51 per cent and 49 per cent, respectively, of Bank DnB NORD A/S. Bank DnB NORD A/S has subsidiary banks in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. Today DnB NOR have decided to take over the whole Baltic bank.

“In a statement to Oslo Børs on 14 July 2010, it was announced that DnB NOR, pursuant to the shareholder agreement, had notified NORD/LB that the bank reserved the right to exercise its option to acquire NORD/LB’s 49 per cent ownership interest in Bank DnB NORD A/S,” DnB NOR says in a short market statement.

“In a statement to NORD/LB today, DnB NOR has exercised its option to acquire NORD/LB’s ownership interest in Bank DnB NORD A/S.”

“If the parties do not reach agreement on price, this must be determined in accordance with an agreed arbitration mechanism.”

“DnB NOR considers DnB NORD’s geographic area of operation to be a region with a good future earnings potential, and that this is a good time to strengthen its position in the Baltic region.”

相変わらず エレガット熱 は冷めないのだが、それと並行して最近凝っているのが､何を今さらのシンセサイザーの研究。
まあ、これも シンセ熱 とか キーボード熱 って感じで周期的に取り組む課題になっているのだが、今回はちょっと趣が異なるスタンス。

今回は既存のビンテージ・アナログ・シンセサイザーが興味の対象。

国産では、MS-20 や Poly-6、そして Mono/Poly あたりまで遡りつつ、DX7 が時代を変える直前に日本の工業技術の威信をかけて開発された最後のアナログシンセ Jupiter-8、CS-80 とか。
国外であれば、まあ Moog や ARP、そして Prophet って王道を一通り。

これ、全部入手しました。

いや、ソフトウエアだけど。

Korg Legacy Collection は Digital Edition も含めて、けっこう前から実際のトラックで使いこんでいる。
古くから馴染みの深い M1 とかは、今でもちょっとした上モノに便利で手放せないのだが、今回は Analog Edition を熱心に研究中。
中古市場を漁って、ソフトウエアを専用のハードからコントロールする「MS-20 コントローラー」まで入手した。

20歳そこそこの頃にタレントのバックとかをやってた時のバンドの女ピアニストが Poly-6 を使っていたっけ。 懐かしいっす。
いつも小銭を借りられるので「ダンモの財布」と呼ばれていた森川、元気ですか。

加えて、この度 Arturia 社 の 全部入り買いました。

本物は入手すら困難な、往年のアナログ・シンセがテンコ盛りっす。

「どうだまいったか」って感じだわな。

1971年に発売されたモノフォニックの Minimoog は30万円程度だったけど、1978年の発売と同時に和音が弾けるシンセとして（5音しか出ないけど）瞬く間に世界的ヒットとなった Prophet-5 は170万円。
Arp 2600 だって、普通に100万円を超えていた。

だいたい、国産の ROLAND Jupiter-8 とかでも、1980年当時の値段で98万円っていうんだから、無理でしょ、どう考えても。
YAMAHA CS-80 に至っては1977年の発売当時で128万円！重さは 100Kg という化け物だし。
国産なのになんでそんなもん作っちゃったんだかと思うけど、そこは日本の楽器メーカーの「意地」と「心意気」だったんだろうなあ。

しかし Arturia のこのシリーズは、流石に良くできている。
Minimoog の荒い矩形波の感じとか、鋸波の汚れ方とか、オケに入ってしまえが本物と区別が付かないだろうね。
Lyle Mays のトレードマークになっている Prophet-5 のパルス波で作られた笛の音とかも鳥肌もの。
CS-80 で演奏された TOTO の「Africa」のソフト・ブラスとか、確かに完璧に再現できちゃいます。
なんと言っても、Jupiter-8 で作るストリングス系のパッドの透明感は素晴らしいね。

他にも DiscoDSP 社の Discovery Pro とかも入手したし、とにかく PCM 波形に依存しないシンセサイザーの挙動が面白いわけね。
レトロな減算式のシンセサイザーをそんなに集めてどうすんの、という疑問も尤もだが、明確な制約の中でのオシレーターとかフィルターとかの微妙なニュアンスの違いが男心をくすぐるわけよ。
ま、気まぐれなマイブームってことで。

で、やっぱソフトだけじゃ、満足度は微妙。
ここはひとつ、きちんとしたハードウエアも導入すっかな、と思い立ったら止まらないのが我ながら悲しい性格。

とは言え、今更、大枚払ってビンテージ・シンセを所有しても、メンテは大変だし、デジタル・ネットワークで構築された DAW システムに組み込めないしで、あまりにも不合理。
こちとらシンセマニアじゃないんで、実機を購入するならあくまでも音楽制作の戦力にならないと意味が無い。
おのずと Radias とか、最近では Roland GAIA とかの流行りモノが選択肢になるのだが、そっち方面についてこそ食傷気味であったのも事実。

んで、辿り着いたのが、バーチャル・アナログの先駆者、スウエーデンの Clavia 社 が誇る「北欧の赤い彗星」、Nord Lead ですわ。
一世を風靡した赤いシンセとして、キーボディストなら誰でも知っている名機。
当方も Nord Lead 1 (1995-1998)が発売された当時に、ラックマウント・バージョンを購入したという記憶がある。
まあ15年も前の話だから、その後の何回かの大規模機材整理のどこかで手放してしまっていた。

今回は、Nord Lead 第2世代の Nord Rack 2 (1998-2003)に加え、中古市場でもタマ不足のレア機種 Nord Lead 3 (2001-2007)の2機種をゲット。

先ず Nord Rack 2 、改めてぶっとんだせ。
もうね、圧倒的なのよ、音が。
芯があるんだなあ、音に。
キレの良さっていうか、オケの中で見事に抜けて前に出てくる出音の存在感は驚異。
エンベローブの立ちあがりの速さなんか気持ち良すぎて悶絶する。
レゾナンスを上げても常に音楽的なレンジを維持するフィルターの独特の質感は最大の魅力。
カットオフ・ノブを回せば「ゾーリンゲンのナイフのような切れ味」が堪能できる。
これね、素晴らしいシンセですわ。
何もいじらずフィルター全開の鋸波だけで堂々と勝負できるってシンセは、所謂バーチャル・アナログではなかなかありません。
ディレイすら搭載しないという潔さに、Clavia 社の決意と自信を感じるね。
もちろん、本体に並んだノブ類でほとんどのパラメータに直接アクセスできるので、とにかく触って音を変化させる行為が楽しすぎるわけ。

昔どこかで読んだ記事に、名言があった。
Nord Lead は、バーチャル・アナログ・シンセサイザーとカテゴライズする前に、Nord Lead というひとつの楽器である。
言い得て妙。

さて、次は遂に手に入れた Nord Lead 3。
Clavia 社の問題作。

Nord Lead シリーズは、2010年時点の現行機種が Nord Lead 2X という、ちょいとイレギュラーな系譜（Nord Lead 2X に PCM 波形を搭載しちゃった Nord Wave は除外）。
Nord Lead 2 の後継が Nord Lead 3 で、その後継が Nord Lead 2X。
実は Nord Lead 2 と Nord Lead 2X の違いって、同時発音数が少し増えたりしているけど、シンセの機能やサウンド・キャラクタ的にはほとんど変わらない。
この系譜を見て分かるように、結果的に Nord Lead 3 って突然変異的で別格な位置づけになっちゃってるわけよ。
サウンドの感触も、若干ながらモダンな方向にシフトしている。
それまでの突き刺すような硬質のサウンドから、エッジが僅かに丸くなり、軽く使い勝手の良いサウンドにイメチェンされたという感じ。
ともすれば Nord Lead の系譜から逸脱してデジタル臭が強いという印象を受けるのも事実だが、その時代を先取りした伝説的なインターフェイスと完成度の高い FM 音源までカバーする汎用性は大きなアドバンテージ。

Nord Lead 3 が何故ディスコンになって、何故その設計思想が継承されなかったかは、けっこうな謎。
前述のサウンド・キャラクターの微妙な変化に市場がネガティブな反応をしたとは考えられる。
又、理想のバーチャル・アナログ・シンセサイザーを作ろうと、コスト度外視で高額な部品を贅沢に投入した結果、製品として採算ベースに乗らなかったというのも、ひとつの要因だとは言われている。

とにかく Nord Lead 3 って、定価でほぼ40万円という笑える価格だからね。
中古市場でも値崩れせず、未だに20万円近傍での取引が相場。
業界を震撼させたロータリー・エンコーダーと LED グラフによるこれでもかという操作性も気絶寸前だが、その信じられないくらい柔軟なモジュレーション・ルーティングにノックアウトされるぜ。
およそ減算式のアナログシンセに求められる自由度の全てが装備されていると言っても過言ではないだろう。

そして、強化されたオシレーターにテンコ盛りされた夢のような機能。
発音数に影響しないユニゾン、シンク用に用意さている隠しオシレーター、1オシレーター内にキャリアとモジュレータの2オペを内蔵した FM 音源（実際は1プログムに2オシレーターが標準装備なので、普通に4オペの FM 変調が可能！）等、使い勝手も十分に練られている。
実際にデフォルトのプリセットには「まんま DX エレピ」なプログラムまであって、あのコツンというアタックの質感と煌びやかな倍音が見事に再現されていたのに驚いた。
更には、当たり前のように4プログラムまでのレイヤーが可能だから、やろうと思えば8オペの FM 音源に4オシレーターのアナログ・サウンドを重ねられるという圧倒的な仕様。
正にドリーム・シンセだな。
最近では貴重な「アフタータッチ付き鍵盤」というのも嬉しいし。
あなたの指先に瞬時に反応しながら幻想的に輝く無数の LED が、魅惑の夜を演出しまっせ。

もう、シンセはこれで打ち止め。
って、いいかげんにしろよ、俺。
